Buy your train ticket on your mobile
Send an SMS and get the ticket for train and bus sent directly to your mobile. This is DSB, Movia, Metro Company and DSBFirst’s offering to customers in the greater Copenhagen area. Unwire is behind the solution and the expectations are high for the new initiative, that went live on 23 January 2009.
It’s the end of coins, vouchers and queues at machines, because now you can send a text to get your bus and train tickets. Unwire is behind the new mobile solution that allows you to purchase tickets for bus, subway, commuter trains and other trains in the metropolitan area by sending an SMS, just before you get on. The ticket is billed via mobile bill and it is issued via an SMS.
“We are incredibly pleased that we can now offer our customers the possibility to buy the ticket via SMS. We have introduced the solution in order to meet customers’ desire that it should be easy and quick to buy a ticket for bus, train and metro. At the same time, we are counting on the fact that it can help to attract more customers to public transport” says Niklas Marschall, sales director at DSB S-train.
Safe and easy solution
The new mobile ticketing solution is secure and easy to use for both users and providers. The customer sends an SMS with the starting zone and indicates the number of zones he/she wish to go. Within a minute the ticket is handled, and the customer receives a confirmation SMS, which function as a ticket. Later, the customer can check his personal purchase at the traffic company’s website or 1415.dk.
“It’s been very important for us to develop a product that meets our high service, as well as operational and safety requirements. We can conclude that we have succeeded. We are very pleased at DSB, “says Niklas Marschall.
Besides handling of ticket orders and delivering tickets, the solution also includes an administration module that allows the traffic companies to check the passenger’s ticket. This makes it much harder to cheat with the electronic tickets compared with fares from the traditional ticketing system.
“We have delivered a solution that offers improved service and flexibility to customers and simultaneously provide increased security for the companies behind. The system is stable and can handle a huge number of transactions so that both customer and supplier will have great pleasure of the solution. We look forward to get the first statistics, which we expect will show that the Danes are crazy about this concept and the many advantages.” says Peter Bredgaard CEO at Unwire.
